Dr. Yanchun Zhang received her bachelor’s degree from the School of Pharmacy at China Pharmaceutical University in 2019. She then pursued her Ph.D. in the School of Life Science and Technology at ShanghaiTech University. Her research encompassed biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology. She investigated how the kinase FER contributed to ovarian cancer and explored potential therapeutic strategies. This work included using mass spectrometry to identify substrates of FER, particularly IRS4, and conducting validation experiments with various biochemical and molecular techniques. She also designed PROTAC compounds targeting FER and assessed their role in protein degradation. In October 2024, she joined Dr. Tanya Stoyanova's lab in the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology as a Postdoctoral Scholar, focusing on the development and testing of new cancer therapeutic agents.
