Dr. Zuoyi Zhao obtained her MD degree from Shandong University (2012–2017, Jinan, China), followed by one year of clinical foundational training. She then earned her PhD in Molecular Oncology at Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London, UK (2017–2022), under the mentorship of Professor Yaohe Wang. Her doctoral research focused on cancer immunotherapy, specifically enhancing the efficacy of oncolytic vaccinia viruses and CAR T-cell therapies for human pancreatic cancer. Following the completion of her PhD, Dr. Zhao continued her work at Barts Cancer Institute as a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of Professor John F. Marshall (2022–2023), where she further advanced CAR T-cell therapy strategies for pancreatic cancer. Currently, Dr. Zhao is a postdoctoral scholar in Professor Daniel Kaufman’s lab at UCLA. Her research focuses on cancer immunotherapy for glioblastoma and therapeutic strategies for long-COVID.
